Choosing the Best Vitamin Supplements
How do we figure out which are the best vitamin supplements? How do we know where the product comes from and that what it says on the bottle is really what is in the bottle? How do we know if the person or the corporation really cares about our well being, or if they just want to make a quick buck on us?
You hear it all the time, "Wow, there is so much junk out there."
Indeed.
Here's how it works all too often . . .
A big company with a big budget buys television commercials that get people going crazy. They tell us that they have the best vitamin supplements, and inform us that if you have this disease, pain, etc. you should take this medication, that supplement, etc.
Then next thing you know we are all self-diagnosing ourselves instead of going to see a doctor, and if we do see a doctor, we tell him what's wrong with us and we demand cures based on what we saw on TV.
The last thing a doctor needs is a self-diagnosed patient, because a self-diagnose patient will be less receptive, their minds will have already been made up by those convincing "information sessions" called TV commercials.
There Is a Better Way
In order to find a great company with the truly best vitamin supplements from which to choose, and get your hands on other great health products, you have to do a little research and investigation on your own.
First, you want to know a little background information about the company and who owns it, like . . .
- Where does the company come from?
- What is the owner of the company doing? (Is he a promoter, scientist, business manager?)
- Who is on board?
- How long has the company been in business? (Are they stable, financially and business-wise?)
- Is the company publicly traded?
- What is there main mean of promotion? (What methods to they use to market their products?)
Second, what about the quality of the products?
- Where do they make the product?
- What do they do when they receive shipment from suppliers? (How do they ensure purity of product?)
- What is the potency of the product? (Is it absorbable?)
- What are the company's guidelines regarding making the product?
- Are they following the US food standards regarding manufacturing? Or are they following the pharmaceutical-grade GMP
(Good Manufacturing Practices)
? A good way to tell is to look on the bottle to see if there is a DIN (Drug Identification Number) on the bottle. You want to see one there.
- Is the product recognized in the Physicians' Desk Reference and Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties (CPS)? (Not a must, but it adds credibility to the product.)
- Are the products made under balanced, science-based formulas?
Third, you want to know about the packaging and distribution.
- Once the product is made, where do they package it? (In house or else-where?)
- Who does the packaging? (Is it the same company or subcontracted to another? This can make you think twice, if not done properly, it can destroy the nutrition value.)
With all those little pointers, you now have a better idea what to look for in quality, and without a doubt you are going to find the best vitamin supplements out there.
